Our cottage is based in the heart of southern Cornwall. There are some amazing places we would share to eat. From formal, to informal there are a range of options. We have focussed here on family friendly eateries.

Bodinnick
The nearest, and oldest, food option is in Bodinnick itself. On the same site for over 400 years the ‘Old Ferry Inn‘ has served the community almost since it was a pirate hideout. Serving a range of traditional and modern food in addition to the hotel restaurant, there are pub food nights, and even a local micro-distillery.
Polruan
Just across the bay in Polruan, The Lugger—distinct from its namesake in Fowey—is a welcoming, dog-friendly pub situated directly on Polruan Quay, steps away from the ferry. Established in 1794 within a historic building once housing sail lofts and fish cellars, it now offers delicious seasonal pub classics, local real ales, fine wines, and an impressive gin collection. There’s a takeaway hatch serving fish and chips—ideal for a quick bite by the water—or for a takeout to eat on the deck.

Fowey
Haveners is a bit of an institution, situated on the harbour mouth this excellent pub and eatery is extremely family friendly. Offering a wide range of food, high chairs and patient serving staff. It does get a little busier in the summer and if you want to sit outside or with a panoramic view of the harbour booking the day before is definitely recommended. The restaurant offers a child changing area, high chairs and colouring for all their little diners.
Perhaps the nicest place to eat is Buffala providing full Italian themed food with a panoramic view over the harbour from the private dining terrace around the back. The restaurant is family friendly with plenty of high chairs and children’s options available.
It’s unlikely any parent will get away without a trip to ‘Rubys‘ an institution on the high street that offers local Cornish ice cream in a myriad of flavours. Queues can be longish in the summer time, but this is more traditional than ‘Game of Cones’ which will appeal to adults and older children.
Finally we cant recommend the ‘Red Rocket Cafe‘ enough for a lazy sunny afternoon, right by the tidal paddling pool, and town beach. See the ‘beaches’ page for full information.
